At Farm Credit of Southern Colorado, we are committed to helping our customers find valuable resources that improve their lives and farming operations. We’re excited to share information about Farm Aid, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping family farmers thrive.
Farm Aid has been a cornerstone of the farming community since 1985, providing various services designed to help farmers in need. Their motto says it all: “Keep America Growing!” Their mission is to create a vibrant, family-farm-oriented agricultural system in America. With a focus on advocacy, Farm Aid provides the resources necessary to ensure the success and sustainability of family farms across the country. These, of course, include our wonderful local Colorado family farms!
One of Farm Aid’s essential services is its Farmer Hotline, which provides immediate support to farmers experiencing crises. This FREE service connects farmers with expert advice on financial issues, disaster management, and mental health support, just to name a few. The hotline is a lifeline for those who need immediate assistance at a moment’s notice in the face of severe agricultural challenges, even if it’s during odd hours of the day.
In addition to direct support, Farm Aid also serves as an advocacy to influence agricultural policy, ensuring that the voice of family farmers is heard throughout all levels of government. They aim to secure fair prices, fight corporate mergers, and promote environmentally friendly agricultural practices. This supportive non-profit fights hard for the small, local farmer, so you don’t have to.
Farm Aid also hosts annual concerts that raise awareness and funds for its programs. This event brings together our local communities with top musicians, farmers, and advocates to celebrate and support the farming community. The profits from these concerts go directly into supplies and support for farmers in need. Farm Aid leverages all of its non-profit benefits for the sake of you, our customers.
