As we enter August and begin the back-to-school process, I hope this monthly newsletter finds you all doing well.
Fraud Warning
Attention all customers with home loans—FCSC has become aware that some of our members with mortgage loans with us may be receiving misleading postcards in the mail. As shown in the images below, it appears as if we at FCSC sent these mailers to you, but we did not. These postcards are NOT from Farm Credit of Southern Colorado, and we DO NOT endorse the Mortgage Protection Insurance that these mailers are trying to sell.
Unfortunately, mortgages are public records, so spam companies will pull this information and send out solicitations for insurance products. Our cooperative will NEVER send out “concerning” postcards or anything regarding your connections with us in this manner. Your local loan officer will always contact you directly through your approved communication channels to address any topic of concern.
Do not trust postcards like this or any other spammy-looking mailers, including digital assets like emails. Be cautious of postcards like this and any other mailers or emails that appear suspicious.
Calendar Contest
As you may have already seen through our social media, website blogs, and emails, our annual calendar contest is officially underway! Internship Program
This summer, we were lucky enough to have three talented interns working with our teams. As our internship program grows and matures, it is incredibly fulfilling to see such talented individuals working towards their future. If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet them, we have included a short biography of each of them. Whether through our scholarship program, internship program, or just visiting with youth in our territory, I am continually assured of the future of this great planet and our agriculture industry. I want to personally thank Taylor, Logan and Emma for sharing their talents with our team and our shareholders this summer. I wish each of them continued success in their journeys.
Technology Update
I know I try each month to share a bit of where we are in our technology transition we call Project Evolution. At this point in the project, we are in a full-on sprint internally for our conversion first, of the loan origination platform we use to originate your loans. We will be converting to nCino the loan origination software I have mentioned before. Once we have nCino implemented in late September, we will then begin to roll out over the following months, enhancements that we hope you all will begin to see and enjoy. While many of the newest features won’t be ready on day one, we are excited to have you recognize enhanced transparency in our loan process, continued focus on credit delivery speed, and new ways for you to share documents with us electronically. So currently, many on our team are performing User Acceptance Testing on the nCino loan product. I commend our team that is devoting countless hours to this project, and I also am grateful to the entire team that continues to work to be sure we can deliver for you, our owners, day in and day out while we work through this major project. In addition to the testing we are performing as we prepare for the first go-live dates, we continue to be heavily in project on the back-end loan accounting conversion that will come in mid-2025. We also have just agreed to enhance our Salesforce software we will use with nCino to add a product called Marketing Cloud. When we fully implement and can use this software with our nCino implementation, we will be able to enhance communication with you as owners significantly. These are the “fun things” I have hinted about as I have talked over this past year about our improved Owner Experience. If you can’t tell, I am very excited about these new tools to help us serve you and our mission. I will be sure to include more about our go-live with nCino next month as it is just around the corner. I want to again thank our team and our board of directors for their significant commitment to our future here at Farm Credit of Southern Colorado.
Board of Directors Update
The board asked that I include a short update in this month’s email to you all to share news related to our open director seat. After the association’s annual meeting in April of this year, director Ryan Britten resigned from his position on the board. This left a vacancy on our board. The board by-laws permit the board to appoint a shareholder to fill that vacancy. While the Farm Credit of Southern Colorado board can certainly function with 11 members versus our standard 12, the board has decided it would be best to fill the vacancy to optimize the governance of your cooperative. At their meeting on July 31st, the board unanimously appointed Mike Livingston to serve in that vacant role until the board’s next annual meeting in 2025. This allows for an entire board to serve for the coming cycle and provides the nominating committee with enough runway to seek a candidate for that position and any other positions that will be up for election next year. We all appreciate Mr. Livingston’s willingness to step up and fill that role representing all of you, our customer-owners.
